Llamas - Ideal Livestock for small acerages

The mostly fine weather attracted 122,000visitors over the three days and I’m fairly sure most of them stopped by the LAA exhibit at some point during their visit!

We were fortunate to be allocated a huge site right opposite the main entrance (thanks to the Show Society’s generosity and a cancellation by another exhibitor).  We were also opposite the goat and sheep areas and near the alpaca marquee which brought many people to our stand to investigate llamas as an alternative livestock option for small acreages.

As always the llamas behaved impeccably and stole the hearts of everyone they met.  The large pen gave them plenty of room to move and escape the crowds for a while in the shade.  When the llamas weren’t resting they were nibbling pieces of carrot handed across the fence by fascinated onlookers, which prompted many comments about how much more friendly the llamas seemed than the alpacas.   Watching the llamas negotiate the specially-made obstacle course was also very impressive.

The LAA Show Team fielded the usual questions and worked very hard on your behalf to make the weekend a great success.    We received two specific mentions in the Canberra Times and the Show Society commented on how good our display  looked.  We are hoping to be invited back again to delight crowds at next years’ Show.
